In 2021, I was hired as research engineer at the Quantitative Operations Management (QuantOM) department of HEC Liège - Management School. I became responsible for the software architecture of a decision-making module of a green logistics management platform: City Line. The idea was to combine the efforts of large freight transport and nascent bike delivery services for city centers in Belgium. As part of the creation of Low Emission Zones, city centers came under high scrutiny when it comes to harmful gas emissions, preventing certain vehicles from even accessing delivery points in the city centers.
My contribution was to create a decision-making module that would use cutting edge optimization techniques to reduce both CO2 emissions and total monetary costs of deliveries over a given period of time. This module would then integrate in a live logistisc coordination software to allow logsitics partner to the project to coordinate multimodal deliveries.
